<p>A relatively small inexpensive phased array antenna provided even if the number of radiators is increased to enhance the gain. The phased array antenna has a multilayers structure including layers where a large number of radiators (15), phase-shifting units (16) each for shifting the phase of a high-frequency signal transmitted/received by the corresponding radiator, and a distributing/synthesizing unit (14) are provided respectively. Signal lines (X1 to Xm) and scanning lines (Y1 to Yn) are arranged on a phase control layer (35) to connect the phase-shifting units in a matrix. Selecting units (12X, 12Y) matrix-drive the signal lines and scanning lines to set a desired amount of phase shift for the phase-shifting unit located at the intersection. The circuits repetitively provided in the phase-shifting units are constituted of chips integrally mounted on another board.</p> |
