<p>A water-based ink for ink-jet recording which comprises an aqueous dispersion of pigmented particles of a vinyl polymer obtained by copolymerizing a monomer mixture comprising (a) a monomer having a salt-forming group, (b) a macromer, and (c) a monomer copolymerizable with the monomers (a) and (b); and a process for producing a water-based ink for ink-jet recording comprising an aqueous dispersion of pigmented vinyl polymer particles, which comprises dissolving in an organic solvent a vinyl polymer obtained by copolymerizing a monomer mixture comprising (a) a monomer having a salt-forming group, (b) a macromer, and (c) a monomer copolymerizable with the monomers (a) and (b), adding a pigment to the resultant solution, prekneading the mixture, subsequently adding a neutralizing agent and water thereto, kneading the resultant mixture to produce an oil-in-water dispersion, and distilling off the organic solvent from the kneaded mixture obtained.</p> |
