<p>An integrated blood pump (110), oxygenator, and heat exchanger is provided having a rotating hollow fiber bundle (115) assembly. A plurality of vanes arranged along a central shaft (124) of the device increase pressure near the center of the fiber bundle (115) to develop sufficient pressure head to pump the blood through the heat exchanger. In alternative embodiments, the heat exchanger comprises a pleated metal wall, a bundle of non-permeable hollow fibers (115), or a coiled tube (130) disposed between the rotating hollow fiber bundle (115), and an interior wall of the housing (113).</p> |
