摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inline type electron gun capable of coping with high brightness of a cathode ray tube and preventing degradation of characteristics when an electron beam strikes an electrode in using high electric current. SOLUTION: This inline electron gun comprises three cathodes 1a, 1b, 1c arranged in line for emitting a center beam and two side beams, and a plurality of electrodes for respectively controlling, focusing, and accelerating the three electron beams emitted from each of the cathodes 1a-1c, and each of the plurality of electrodes is provided with three electron beam passing holes arranged in line. Approximately oval-shaped electron beam passing holes 7D, 7E, 7F are provided in a second focusing electrode 8 for passing the electron beams formed in approximately oval shapes by a forward variable intensity quadrupole lens 10 so as to be wider in the inline arrangement direction. The approximately oval-shaped electron beam passing holes 7D, 7E, 7F are wider than are long and the widths in the inline arrangement direction are larger than diameters of the electron beam passing holes so as to correspond to the approximately oval-shaped electron beams.
