DISPERSION COMPENSATED OPTICAL CABLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the compensation accuracy of a dispersion compensated optical cable, to shorten the laying period thereof, to eliminate the need for modularization thereof and to reduce the cost thereof. SOLUTION: This dispersion compensated optical cable utilizes the wavelength dispersion characteristic of transmitted light of a wavelength band adjacent to the reflected wavelength band of optical fiber gratings 1c. In such a case, the cable consists of an optical fiber 3 for transmission formed with the transmission type optical fiber gratings 1c on the side inner by >=2 m from the ends. The signal light of the prescribed wavelength propagating in the transmission path 2 of the optical fiber for transmission thereof passes the transmission type optical fiber gratings 1c, by which the wavelength dispersion of the transmission path is compensated.
