PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further reduce power consumption by appropriately reducing power consumption for every control part corresponding to each line. SOLUTION: This facsimile equipment has a first facsimile control part 1 for controlling the whole facsimile equipment, a first line control part 2, an operation panel part 3, an image reading part 4 and a printing part 6 which prints the image received. In addition, the equipment has a second line control part 7 for connecting a second line and a second facsimile control part 8. The part 1 and the part 2 are respectively provided with a clock control part for shifting to a sleep mode (a state of low power consumption) by controlling these clocks. In the operation which uses the first line, the side of the part 8 is left in the state of the sleep mode as is.
