<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide inexpensive and reusable electric paper. SOLUTION: A lower reservoir 126 and an upper reservoir 130, which communicate with each other through a passageway 128, are provided so that a ferrofluidic coloring fluid 136 can be made to flow. The fluid 136 is moved from the lower reservoir 126 to the upper reservoir 130 or vice versa by the impression of a magnetic force. The flow of the fluid 136 is limited by the shape and size of the passageway 128. The back flow of the fluid 136 from the upper reservoir 130 to the lower reservoir 126 is prevented by setting the dimensions of the passageway 128 and setting the surface tension and viscosity of the fluid 136. A sponge may be used in place of the passageway 128. The upper reservoir 130 may be omitted, when the sponge is used.</p> |
