PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain the wear of the iron receiving part in an iron tapping spout, to reduce the repairing frequency thereof and to improve net working rate. SOLUTION: When the iron tapping spout 2 is cooled by forming a coolant flowing passage 4 at the outside of the iron tapping spout 2 disposed so as to face an iron tapping hole in the blast furnace 1 and feeding the coolant in this coolant flowing passage 4, the coolant flowing passage 4 corresponding to the iron receiving part 3 in the iron tapping spout 2 is contracted to form a constricted part 5. Cooling capacity is strengthened by making the coolant flowing speed in this portion faster than that in the other portion, and thus the wear of the iron receiving part 3 is restrained and the term to be repaired is extended and the reduction of the repairing frequency and the improvement of net working rate are achieved.
