PURPOSE: An apparatus for driving an FED(field emission display) is provided to present equal pictures as well as to prevent an array of a panel from being damaged. CONSTITUTION: Positive voltage of 40-60V is supplied to a gate when high voltage is fed to an anode. The voltage difference between the gate and a cathode is formed if negative voltage is fed to the cathode so electron emission as to be performed to the anode. Thereby, a gate driving unit(16) outputs data (D) sequentially depending on the data input from a controller(15). Also, a cathode driving unit(17) provides sequential scan pulses of the negative voltage to each column line to output data from the gate driving unit. Therefore, the electron emission is performed only at a part where the positive voltage is fed to a gate line and the negative voltage is fed to a cathode line.
