PURPOSE: A scroll compressor is provided to solve the problems in the conventional technique and to improve unstability that the rotating scrolls are easily relieved by flapping of the rotating scrolls caused by a tiny outer disturbance. CONSTITUTION: A scroll compressor has a fixed scroll (1), a rotating scroll (2), a compliant frame (3) axially supporting the rotating scroll (2) and radially supporting a main shaft (4) for driving the rotating scroll (2) and a guide frame (4) fixed to a hermetically sealed vessel (10) and radially supporting the compliant frame (3). The rotating scroll (2) is slidable in the axial direction by sliding of the compliant frame (3) on the guide frame (4). A space (15f) is formed between the frame (3,4). The pressure in the space (15f) is higher than the suction pressure and at most the same as the discharge pressure. Thus, relief of the rotating scroll (2) is avoidable to quickly and constantly realize a state of normal operation.
