PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce line noise on a radiation image read by a radiation image reader obtained for each from a solid-state radiation detector. SOLUTION: This radiation image reader uses a solid-state radiation detector 10 consisting of a non-sensing solid-state detection element 17 and a shield 18 laminated thereon that act like outputting a non-sensing pixel that does not sense any radiation. A noise discrimination image signal acquisition means 21 reads a non-sensing image signal D(p, d) from the non-sensing solid-state detection element 17 plural times to obtain a discrimination image signal Cave(p) for noise discrimination. A noise extract means 22 extracts noise component N(p) being the difference between the non-sensing image signal D(p, d) and the discrimination image signal Cave(p). A high frequency noise component extract means 23 obtains a high frequency noise component N'(p) resulting from eliminating a low frequency noise component Vave(p) from the noise component N(p). A noise reduction means 24 subtracts the high frequency noise component N'(p) from a signal D(p, i) of each row of a read image signal of a concerned column.
