372,111. Illuminating pictures. WHITE, R. W. J., 93, Queen's Gate, London. May 20, 1931, No. 14880. [Classes 75 (iii) and 75 (iv).] Light reflected by trough-shaped re,flectors ; adjustable supports.-In a lamp for illuminating a picture from above or below the opposite edges of a cover glass 6 are received in guides 5a, 5b on a horizontal trough-shaped reflector 1 and the outer edge of the reflector is extended to conceal the cover-glass. The latter may be of a daylight or other tint, and the extension of the reflector may be given a matt black finish. One of the end walls of the reflector extends only up to the guides, to allow of the insertion of the cover-glass, and is provided with a detachable cover wall. The reflector is carried by two hollow arms 10 and is adjustable about two horizontal axes X-X, Y-Y parallel to itself. The inner end of each arm is pivoted about a pin 16 between the bifurcated ends of a lug 15 on a wall bracket and is provided with worm teeth adapted to engage a worm 17 which is operated by a milled head 18. To the outer end of each arm is secured a fitting 22 which terminates in a hollow cylindrical portion 23 open at one end and co-operating with a similar portion 21 on a lug 11 which is bifurcated to straddle a channel 20 provided on the back of the reflector for the leads 19. The two parts 21, 23 are pivoted together by means of a pin 24, a slidable but non-rotatable washer 25, and a wing nut 12. |
