PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetoresistive effect element for making satisfactory a switched connection force, and for obtaining a stable output in a long period. SOLUTION: This magnetoresistive effect element is provided with a switched connection film in which a base film 3, anti-ferromagnetic film 4, and ferromagnetic film 5 are laminated in this order, and the base film 3 is made of metal or alloy having a face centered cubic system crystal structure or a hexagonal closest crystal structure with an inter-most adjacent atom distance which is longer than the inter-most adjacent atom distance of the anti-ferromagnetic film 4. Thus, a magnetoresistive effect element for obtaining a stable output in a long period can be obtained.
