PURPOSE: A method for synchronizing a channel in a TV is provided to perform an optimal synchronization regardless of frequency bands, by receiving broadcasting signals of channels by frequency bands, performing an auto gain control at a strength of a signal having the best screen quality, storing the gain value as an optimal gain value of the corresponding frequency band, distinguishing the frequency band of the corresponding channel by the stored gain value during the synchronization, and synchronizing the channel based on the gain value corresponding to the frequency band. CONSTITUTION: A method for synchronizing a channel in a TV calculates optimal gain values by frequency bands when a standby mode is converted into an active mode, synchronizes a tuner with a channel corresponding to a key input when the key input for selecting the channel is applied, distinguishes the frequency band of the channel, and automatically adjusts a gain of a received broadcasting signal by using the optimal gain value for each frequency band as a reference gain value for an auto gain control. As a result, all the channels can be synchronized to have the optimal receiving sensitivity, regardless of the frequency bands.
