PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a code division multiplex communication system for preventing the entire packet from being omitted and eliminating the need of reproducing a carrier from reception signals by generating an orthogonal code chip-synchronized by a correlation peak from a surface acoustic wave matched filter by a synchronization code string even in the case that the condition of a communication line is foor. SOLUTION: In this communication system, plural synchronization bursts constituted of a synchronization packet part and a dummy part respectively composed of the Barker code of 11 chips are provided in the preamble part of spread spectrum signals and the time Tburst of one synchronization burst is matched with one symbol time Tsymbol of a data part modulated by the quadrature m sequence codes of 64 chips. When the correlation peak is detected in even one of the plural synchronization code strings, the orthogonal code matched with the start timing of the first symbol of the data part is generated and chip synchronization is accurately obtained at high speed.
