PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum load-break switch which can precisely and easily detect a degree of vacuum without being influenced by a noise and the like of an electric circuit under both charging and interrupting conditions of the electric circuit. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a pair of metallic gaps 101, 104 which are insulated from a pair of electrodes in a vacuum vessel 43. The device is also provided with a power source 107 which applies voltage to the pair of metal gaps 101, 104, and magnetic field generating means 105, 108 which apply magnetic field on the metal gaps 101, 104 outside the vacuum vessel 43. The device measures a degree of vacuum inside the vacuum vessel 43 by detecting a current flowing between the pair of metal gaps 101, 104.
