摘要 A variable valve control device for an IC engine has an inlet and outlet valves and a drive shaft plus: - a rotatable and axially movable driven shaft (3) with a cam (4); - an angular phase control device with a drive-side rotor (60-55) which turns synchronously with the drive shaft; and - an axial movement control device with a pressure chamber (22-88) and a piston (57,157) which is fastened to the driven shaft and moves axially in the pressure chamber, whereby an axial movement of the piston is controlled hydraulically. The angular phase control device and the axial movement control device are operated basically independently of each other but a hydraulic pressure that is higher than the minimum operating pressure for an axial movement of the piston, can be applied constantly to the axial movement control device at the time instant when the angular phase control device actually changes the angular phase of the rotor of the driven side relative to the drive-side rotor.
