A voltage supply (3) can be switched on independently of the current circuits (1;2) to be monitored. These two circuits can only be then switched on by the solenoid switch (6), if the mains voltage is applied and the test circuit (4) also the current detector unit (5) are supplied with sufficient current by the voltage supply. The circuits to be monitored are switched off, not however the voltage supply, as soon as the main voltage is interrupted or sinks to a value, which no longer ensures the required current supply of the testing circuit and the current detector unit. The current circuits are automatically switched on again, if after an interruption or a sinking of the mains voltage, the supply is restored and the current supply to the circuits (4,5) is restored. The test circuit with the occurrence of a fault current, effects the switch OFF of the voltage supply and as a consequence of independently of this effects the switching OFF of the current circuits to be monitored. So that the automatic reswitching ON of the current circuits to be monitored, is effectively prevents.
