PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a glass having no lead component and suitable for a sealing glass by preparing the glass containing SnO, B2O3 and P2O5 as the main components in a specified compsn. and controlling the B2O3/P2O5 to a specified range. SOLUTION: The glass contains SnO, B2O3 and P2O5 as the main components, and each component is included by mol%, 30 to 70% of SnO, 5 to 30% of B2O3 and 24.1 to 45% of P2O5 while satisfying B2O3/P2O5>=0.20. The SnO component reduces the melting point of the glass, and B2O3 and P2O5 are glass-forming oxides. The ratio of B2O3/P2O5 is preferably >=0.40. As well as the main components, a component to stabilize the glass such as ZnO, Al2O3, SiO2 and WO3 may be incorporated by total <=35% to the glass. If the total content exceeds 35%, the glass is easily devitrified during forming.
