PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a data receiver capable of reducing time and labor which are needed for restoring working of data reception more than in the conventional practice by detecting the receiving state of broadcasting waves received by an antenna based on data and displaying the receiving state of the broadcasting waves on an external displaying means. SOLUTION: A CPU 6 monitors the receiving state of an antenna 2 all the time while executing downloading, and when the receiving state deteriorates due to the direction change of an antenna 2 in this state, it displays a GUI image W 16 being an antenna level adjustment image on a monitor 4 in accordance with the operation of a viewer. Then, it is possible to recover the receiving level of the antenna 2 and to resume downloading by such a manner that the viewer adjusts the direction of the antenna while visually recognizing the receiving level displayed on the GUI image W 16. Because of this, it is possible to avoid damaging the function of a receiver 3 due to the failure of downloading to generate repair necessity when restored as in the conventional practice.
