PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the variation of sampling quantity for each time by immers ing a liq. sampler pipe being compressed in a liq. and releasing it from compres sion to suck the liq., without discharging air from the sampler pipe into the liq. SOLUTION: The sampler is to sample raw water 50 from an intake 48 and discharge it into a socket 52. A motor rotates at a fixed rotation speed to repeat a reciprocal motion of a support bar 36 along an arcuate locus while a sampler pipe 10 repeats the suction and discharge of the water 50. After immersing an opening end 14 of the pipe 10 in the water 50 at the intake 48, a roller 22 moves to a small-diameter part of a cam 26 to result in that the pipe 10 returns due to an elastic pestering force, the roller 22 and a press board 18 lift to make negative the pressure in the sampler pipe 10, thereby sucking the raw water from the opening end of the sampler pipe 10. Using suck a fixed amount of liq. sample for a raw water sampler of a chlorine demand meter, the measured value of the chlorine demand is stabilized.
