PURPOSE: A device and method for generating OSD of PDP television is provided to generate half tine type semitransparent OSD signals so that a user's various requirements can be completed. CONSTITUTION: A device and method for generating OSD of PDP television includes a data selection block(114), which alternately arranges the input digital data and mix the digital data with a semitransparent data. n-bits digital data (that is, n-bit of R,G,B, respectively) is stored to a first memory block(102) sequentially in order from the upper bit to the lower bit based on the record address signals provided a control block(106). The digital data is provided to the next rearrangement block(104) by discriminating when being providing a discriminating address from the control block(104). A screen image covered by OSD signals appears semitransparent ly. In a section having an OSD sub blank signal and an OSD main blank signal, simultaneously, the data selection block(114) throws an inputted digital data away and inserts the OSD data to the thrown section, thereby producing OSD data having a half tone. |
