PURPOSE: A preventing method of the starting of an engine is provided to prevent excessive operation of an engine when cooling water or lubricating oil such as engine oil is insufficient in a vehicle. CONSTITUTION: An engine control unit(100) examines if the amount of oil measured from an engine oil sensor(110) is under a reference value. If the measured value is not under the reference value, the engine control unit examines if the amount of the oil of a transmission measured from a transmission oil sensor(130) is under a reference value. If the measured value is under the reference value, the engine control unit generates an alarm message via an indication unit or generates an alarm sound via a speaker. And the engine control unit generates a disable signal to block the operation of an engine starting part(140). Thus, the engine is not started when cooling water or oil is not sufficient. And the engine control unit makes a user recognize the shortage of oil or cooling water via an input part, and examines if a cancellation key value for feeding an enable signal is input to the engine starting part. If the cancellation key value is input, the engine starting part is operated by generating an enable signal. Thereby, an operator recognizes the shortage of oil or cooling water, and moves a vehicle for supplementing cooling water or oil.
