PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preventing degradation of a concrete structure by inhibiting temperature rises at the concrete structure by means of a cover layer provided on the surface of the concrete structure, and thereby reducing the speed of progress of alkali aggregate reaction. SOLUTION: A method for preventing the degradation of a concrete structure forms a heat insulating layer 1 having at least one constituent layer on the surface of the concrete structure and having a sunlight absorption rate of 0.7 or less at its outermost surface, the one constituent layer having a heat conduction coefficient of 500 kcal/m2. deg.C or less. In that case, the heat insulating layer 1 preferably has an acrylic rubber base coating layer. Also, the heat insulating layer 1 preferably has a fiber layer.
