CATCHING PREVENTING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catching preventing device capable of detecting stress from a foreign matter with high sensitivity and high reliability and detecting catching generated immediately before the total closure of an opening/closing member at low cost with simple constitution. SOLUTION: In this catching preventing device, light (infrared rays) penetrates an internal space of a tube body formed of elastic material embedded in a weatherstrip 9, and catching is detected by judging the decrease of light quantity of light transmitted in the internal space 13 due to the deformation of the tube body 11 by stress from an caught foreign matter. The light entering the internal space 13 of the tube body 11 is propagated in the internal space 13 while being reflected by the inner peripheral surface 11a of the tube body 11. Since the internal space 13 of the tube body 11 is communicated with the outside, the tube body 11 is elastically deformed easily without the rise of pressure in the internal space when deformed.
