Home electrical network system e.g. for home-entertainment centre, uses root device for controlling data flow along IEEE-1394-Bus and assigning node identification to each connected device

The home electrical network system uses root device (300) operating as a bus master for controlling the data flow along an IEEE-1394-Bus and supplying a node identification to each connected device (300-350) upon configuration of the home electrical network system, with a number which has not already been used assigned as the node identification for a supplementary device (360) upon its connection to the home electrical network system. An Independent claim for a method for assigning the node identifications in a home network system is also included.
