PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module containing a relatively simply constituted and miniaturized optical fiber easily holding an excellent characteristic and easy to handle. SOLUTION: In the optical module, at least an optical element or optical components 2, 3 are in contact substantially and directly with the end surface of the terminal end of the optical fiber 1 to be fixed. By directly fixing the optical elements 2, 3 to the fiber end, optical couplement between the optical elements 2, 3 and the optical fiber 1 is eliminated, and the optical module is miniaturized.
