The pigeons are caught on site in containers and transported to a distant pigeon centre in the trap container or a different transport container. The trap container (10) has a sprung grid (40) whose grid bars are formed at least in part by oblong rotatable rollers (42). The trap container has an inlet opening with closing device automatically operating when a release mechanism is triggered. The trap can be set on a building wall and provided with bait.
