PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide facsimile equipment that can print out data where images are properly laid out independently of the binding margin of a received image and the read direction of the original. SOLUTION: A section for identifying the direction of an original 1 receives original direction information from a FAX reception section 2 and original direction information based on the instruction of the operator from an original direction entry section 3 to decide the image output direction. A binding margin state identification section 12 receives binding margin state information from the FAX reception section 2 and binding margin state information based on the instruction of the operator from a binding margin state entry section 13 in response to the instruction of an image output control section 4, recognizes whether or not any margin is existent in the received image, and outputs information relating to the position and size when existent. An image erase/white mask section 14 conducts processing of applying a white mask to an image of an arbitrary size at the upper, lower, left or right end of the image and processing of erasing a prescribed number of pixels.
