PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit a receiving device to identify a transmitting destination by storing an identifying code for identifying the transmitting destination of a facsimile signal and transmitting the stored identifying code by means of a DTMF signal. SOLUTION: The detecting circuit 61 of a communication part 21 detects an ID code for identifying the transmitting destination by the DTMF signal before receiving the facsimile signal from another facsimile equipment and outputs the detected ID code to a control part through a modem LSI 52 and a modem CPU 53. In this case, when the facsimile equipment at a transmission side executes dialling, the facsimile equipment at a reception side detects an incoming call and closes a telephone line. Then the facsimile equipment at the transmission side transmits the signal for identifying the transmitting destination by the DTMF signal, which corresponds to the ID code of the transmitting destination previously stored in a memory, in the case of detecting the line closing of the facsimile equipment at the reception side by the polarity inversion of the telephone line.
