SOLUTION: This compound is represented by formula I [Ar1 to Ar3 are each an aryl, an aralkyl, a 1-5C alkyl or the like; R1 is an aryl, a heterocyclic group, an aralkyl or the like; (a) is a 1-3C alkyl, a 1-5C fluoroalkyl, a 1-3C alkoxy or the like; (n) is 1-3], e.g. a compound represented by formula II. For example, the compound represented by formula I can be produced by reacting a suitable nitrosalicylaldehyde compound with a suitableα-haloacyl compound, synthesizing a nitrobenzo[b]furan compound represented by formula III, subsequently reducing and converting the resultant compound into an aminobenzo[b]furan compound, then subjecting the aminobenzo[b]furan compound to coupling reaction with a halogen compound, affording an acylbenzo[b]furan compound represented by formula IV and reacting the prepared acylbenzo[b]furan compound with a hydrazine reagent represented by formula V. Thereby, an electrophotographic photoreceptor having stabilized characteristics at the time of repetitive use can be obtained.
