PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direct contact hot water heater for bath being coupled with a circulation pipeline which can be employed in a home bath by reducing the overall size of a unit comprising the direct contact hot water heater and a circulation pipeline while keeping the water supply capacity. SOLUTION: A hot water storage section 2, a combustion chamber 3, and a heat absorbing chamber 4 filled with a heat absorbing material 4a are disposed sequentially upward. A direct contact hot water heater for bath being coupled with a circulation pipeline 10 for producing hot water in the hot water storage section 2 by bringing the water being sprayed onto the heat absorbing material 4a from a bathtub 19 through a first pipeline 10a and dripping therefrom into direct contact with combustion gas of fuel combusted in the combustion chamber 3 is constructed such that a filtering section 6 filled with a filtering material is mounted removably in a filtering material container above the heat absorbing chamber 4, an opening 7 for supplying water from the bathtub 19 through the first pipeline 10a is made in the side wall of the heater body 1 above the filtering section 6 and an opening/closing cap 8 is provided at the uppermost part of the heater body 1.
