PURPOSE: A seal roll is provided to increase seal performance without a scratch being a cause of bad effect on quality of a processing material. CONSTITUTION: A seal roll(3) forms water cooling rolls(3a,3b). Partition walls(4a,4b) form an opening which passes a material(1) and a seal chamber placed in the entrance and exit of the seal rolls. Also roll gap adjusters(5a,5b) drives a liquid pressure cylinder, and the roll gap of the rolls is operated by an operator(6) on the basis of tracking information of materials inside a continuous heat-treatment furnace and plate thickness information of the material. The seal roll is driven by the command of a seal roll controller(7) depending on the information data. The operated value from a material returning speed operator(10) is output to a controller(11). Therefore, the thermal crown of the seal roll caused by heat radiation from the strip surface and the furnace wall is reduced as forming the seal roll chamber with the partition wall and water cooling the seal roll.
