PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an agent for suppressing the expression of endoplasmic reticulum chaperone gene having close relationship to the progress of arteriosclerosis or cystic fibrosis, etc., by including an ATP-sensitive potassium channel opener. SOLUTION: The objective agent contains an ATP-sensitive potassium channel opener, preferably minoxidil, diazoxide, cromakalim or their derivatives having an action to suppress the expression of endoplasmic reticulum chaperone gene. Preferably, the gene is ORP150, GRP94 or GRP78 gene, the minoxidil is e.g. 6-(1-piperidinyl)-2,4-pyrimidinediamine 3-oxide expressed by the formula, the content of the opener is 50-100 wt.% and the administration rate is 0.1-1,000 mg per dose.
