PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a corrosion-resistant member having a fluoride surface layer exhibiting high corrosion resistance and its production method. SOLUTION: A substrate preferably contg. at least one of aluminum and aluminum nitride is introduced into a vessel contg. aluminum fluoride powder and water, and the vessel is then heated to heat-treat the substrate at >=100 deg.C, thus forming a fluoride layer preferably having a main crystal phase consisting of aluminum fluoride hydroxide such as Al2F3(OH)3 on the substrate surface.
