PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer in which dust or air is prevented from entering into a channel along with ink remaining on the forward end face of a print head when contaminants are wiped off therefrom after ink in the print head is sucked by means of a suction cap. SOLUTION: A suction cap 11 defined by a flexible wall and sucking ink in a print head through the channel of a print head 5 ejecting ink by touching the forward end face thereof tightly is provided with a part 13 stretching from a position closest to the channel of the print head 5 toward a wiper 12 while having an end face flush with the forward end face of a wall 11b on the inner wall of the wall 11b facing a wall 11a contiguous to a wiper 12 for wiping off ink adhering to the forward end of the print head disposed contiguously to the suction cap 11.
