PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an impact noise between a sheet feed roller or a sheet feeding means and a sheet, and simultaneously to eliminate a dent and damage to be produced in the sheet to be fed, in a sheet feeder with a release means. SOLUTION: This sheet feeder 100 is equipped with a sheet loading means 120 loading a sheet P, a sheet feeding means 140 feeding the sheet in contact with it, an energizing means energizing the sheet loading means toward the sheet feeding means and making the sheets loaded on the sheet loading means contact with the sheet feeding means, a release means 150 separating the sheet loading means from the sheet feeding means against the energizing means, and a speed reducing means 160 decelerating the travel speed of the sheet loading means accessibly moving to the sheet feeding means by the energizing means when the separatory operation by the release means is released, respectively.
