PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make efficiently and quantitatively graspable the occurrence state of wave-shaped abrasion of rail. SOLUTION: In this detection method, the axle box vertical-vibration acceleration of an inspection vehicle is measured, a wavelet analysis is applied for judging a rail seam position according to the measured acceleration data, a part where wave-shaped abrasion of rail occurs is detected, and at the same time acceleration measurement data in a low-speed region being equal to or lower than a resonance point is used for estimating the wave height of a wave- shaped abrasion of rail regardless of the difference in track structure.
