PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent power from being wasted and to prevent the radiation of radio waves toward a person by preventing the start of transmitting/receiving operation even when a start operating means is operated when a direction detecting means detects the upward direction of an antenna. SOLUTION: When a start switch 18 is turned on in the state of holding the main body of handy type reader/writer with its output part faced to upward, a main control part 28 prevents the communicating operation of a remote control part 29. Therefore, when a head is not faced to the direction where the existence of an ID tag is originally intended, useless operation is prevented from being performed such as reading of the output state of a human sensor 22, radiating of the ultrasonic waves of an ID tag sensor 23 or outputting of a transmission signal, so that power saving is enabled. Further, since the communicating operation is not started when the ID tag does not exist in front of the device, useless transmission signals are not outputted and much more power saving is attained. |
