PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-functional extension telephone set that has part of the functions of an exchange so as to relieve the processing load on the exchange and to provide an information processing method for the multi-functional extension telephone set. SOLUTION: The multi-functional extension telephone set has a control function 16 that controls each section of the telephone set using a microprocessor an information entry function 18 that enters function number information by using buttons, a storage function 20 that stores function number information or the like and is not accessible from an exchange, an I/F function 22 that interfaces mutual information between a multi-functional extension telephone set 14 and the exchange and a multi-functional extension telephone set which has a speech function 24 that makes a speech with other multi-functional extension telephone sets via the exchange and the exchange having an exchange function and a central processing unit conducting other control processing operations. The multi-functional extension telephone set conducts processing without information the exchange of a request entered by a user of the telephone set by button depression if the request can be processed internally.
