PURPOSE: A method for managing cells in a mobile communication system is provided to increase/decrease cells without service suspension of a base station, to examine quality assurance by using a virtual loop-back cell according to each sub-cell of the increased/decreased cells, and to inform the examined result to an operator. CONSTITUTION: A method for managing cells in a mobile communication system comprises the steps of: transmitting a command and data to increase/decrease cells to a base station through a controller, in BSM(Base Station Management) by an operator, and waiting for a response; changing a necessary PLD(Processor Load Data ) parameter and data after receiving the command, transmitting the changed result to the controller, by the base station, and changing the corresponding PLD if the performed result of the base station is successful, transmitting the result to the BSM, by the controller, and changing the PLD if the result of the controller is successful, by the BSM; informing that cells are increased/decreased to other controller except the controller where the base station is included, transmitting a response to the controller where the base station is included when the change of the PLD is successful, by the BSM, and informing the response to the base station, by the controller; activating/inactivating a hardware to unify with the changed PLD, if the change of the PLD according to the increase/decrease of the cells is successful, and informing the result to a mobile station, by the base station.
