PURPOSE: A device and a method are provided to enable an elevator controller to automatically recognize each platform controller without artificial manipulation to each platform controller. CONSTITUTION: A device is composed of an elevator controller(200), a platform controller(210a to 210n), a network transmission controller(220) and a power device(230). Herein, an elevator controller judges whether it is a recognition number set up mode and transmits an order for preparing to set up a recognition number to the platform controller through the network transmission controller. Then the platform controller judges that the order is received to start counting after resetting a counter of a position detecting circuit. If counting is stopped, after a certain time, a timer is worked, and the recognition number is transmitted to and stored in the elevator controller trough the network transmission controller.
