摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high picture quality perpendicular alignment type ECB mode liquid crystal display element excellent in sharpness, high in contrast ration, high in transmittance in a bright state by including plural regions in each pixel constituting a display surface and making the direction of the alignment of the liquid crystal molecule in plural regions different from each other. SOLUTION: The pixel region has 2 divided regions (domains) 33, 34 partitioned by a center line 32. The alignment direction of two domains 33, 34 are different from each other. Symmetrical and wide visual property is obtained in the display surface by forming the pixel from 2 domains 33, 34 different in the alignment direction from each other. Further, the high picture quality liquid crystal display free from the display unstable phenomenon on the surface in the case of displaying animation is obtained by arranging so that the tilt direction of the liquid crystal of bulk faces the center line 32 of the pixel in any of the domains 33, 34 in the directly opposite alignment direction of two domains 33, 34 to each other.
