PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fixing device capable of prolonging the life of a cooling fan and also reducing the power consumption of the whole device as small as possible. SOLUTION: When a roller temperature reaches Ta1 in the case a time t=t1 after turning the roller on (after starting the power supply to an induction coil) in the case a time t=0, the power source for the cooling fan is turned on. The cooling fan is turned off when the roller temperature Ta1 drops to Ta1 in the case t=t3 after turning off the roller in the case t=t2. When the temperature of the fixing roller is equal to or exceeding the prescribed temperature, the cooling fan is turned on, on the other hand, when a cooling operation is not required, the fan is turned off, then, the life of the fan is prolonged, and also, the power consumption of the whole device is reduced.
