PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data recording/reproducing device which records the special reproducing data in a special reproducing area of a recording medium at an improved data rate to obtain a special reproduction image of high picture quality in a special reproduction mode and also can prevent the disturbance of the special reproduction image in a program switching mode. SOLUTION: The device includes a special reproducing data generation part 31 which outputs the special reproducing data including no PSI(program specification information) used for decoding the special reproducing data to a record formatting part 3 and a special reproducing data processing part 32 which replaces the identification information, i.e., the information on a header part of the reproduced special reproducing data with the identification information corresponding to the newly generated PSI to output the latter identification information in a special reproduction mode and also inserting the newly generated PSI within a prescribed time interval to output it.
