PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera for accurately capturing a focal state at a display part without largely scaling a display part to be used also as a finder when the number of pixels of an image pickup element is made large. SOLUTION: The photoelectric conversion of an optical image from an image pickup optical system 301 is operated by an image pickup element 303, and image processing is operated to the electric signal, and the image is displayed at a display part 10 in this digital camera. This digital camera is provided with a focusing mechanism 307 for the image pickup optical system and a display mode switching means for switching a first display mode for displaying a whole photographic range at the display part and a second display mode for enlarging and displaying one part of the photographic range. Thus, the precise visualization of the focal state can be attained while the screen size of the display part is the same at the time of using the image pickup element in which the number of pixels is large.
