PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance conductivity, decrease voltage drop caused by internal resistance, and provide a battery with high capacity and high output by arranging a positive active material, a conductor made of carbon fibers, and a binder on a current collector to form an electrode. SOLUTION: In this electrode 18, preferably, carbon fibers are made of fibrous graphite, the diameter of carbon fibers is 1-15 μm, the length is 20-100 μm, and when the total amount of a positive active material, a conductor, and a binder is 100 wt.%, the amount of the conductor is 1-10 wt%. Since the conductor 12 is fibrous, the contact surface area with a positive active material 10 and a current collector 16 is made larger compared with a granular conductor. Since the carbon fibers coming in contact with the current collector 16 are bent between the positive active materials 10 and extended to the surface of the electrode 18, sufficient current paths are produced even in the positive active material 10 not directly coming in contact with the current collector 16. The conductivity of the positive electrode is enhanced, voltage drop caused by internal resistance is decreased, and stable, high output is obtained even at high current. |
