<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonvolatile storage and a memory controller capable of properly reading out stored data and efficiently writing small size data even when an error exceeding the correction capability of a first error correction code occurs in a nonvolatile memory. <P>SOLUTION: A nonvolatile storage includes: a nonvolatile memory that stores data; and a memory controller that controls the nonvolatile memory. The memory controller also stores a second error correction code in addition to a first error correction code that is stored in the same page as the data. When writing a piece of data smaller than a predetermined size, the first error correction code stored in the same page as the data is duplicated and stored in a different page without giving the second error correction code. When reading out the data, an error is corrected by using the first and/or second error correction code(s) given to the data.
