摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bright visual field contrast at a low cost by forming a transparent dielectric on a front substrate of a colored dielectric having a low transmittance of the light having a specified wavelength or more. SOLUTION: A front surface substrate 100 formed of a front glass substrate 400, a transparent display electrode 600, a bus electrode 700 and a transparent dielectric 800 and a back substrate 200 provided with a back glass substrate 500, an address electrode 1000, a barrier rib 1100 and a phosphor 1200 are adhered to each other so as to form a discharge space 300. The transparent dielectric 800 is formed as a colored glass having 30-90% of transmittance in relation to the light having a wave length in a range at 400-800 nm by mixing the coloring material such as the compound oxide of Ni, Co or Cu, Cr in the glass composition, and burning it. The transparent dielectric 800 is formed as a colored glass having a transmittance higher than other wave length part in a wave length area less than 500 nm and having a low emitting efficiency of the phosphor by burning. With this structure, fitting of an expensive front surface optical filter can be omitted.
