<p>A user-friendly method is provided for specifying WWW sites. When the user selects any symbol (e.g., word, phrase, sentence, figure and image) and copies it onto clipboard (81) while using an application running on a client computer (3), a resident linker (23) automatically reads the symbol from the clipboard (81) and sends it to a URL server (5). The URL server (5) refers to a database (15), which stores sets of symbols and the corresponding URLs, and supplies the linker (23) with a URL corresponding to the received symbol. A WWW browser (21) accesses the page in the URL and displays it.</p> |
